Nikita Dhawan holds the Chair of Political Theory and History of Ideas at the Technical University of Dresden. Her teaching and research focuses on global justice, human rights, democracy and decolonisation. In 2017, she was awarded the Käthe-Leichter-Preis for outstanding achievements in women's and gender studies as well as for supporting the women's movement and implementing gender equality. Selected publications: Impossible Speech: On the Politics of Silence and Violence (2007); Decolonizing Enlightenment: Transnational Justice, Human Rights and Democracy in a Postcolonial World (Hrsg., 2014); Reimagining the State: Theoretical Challenges and Transformative Possibilities(Hrsg., 2019); Rescuing the Enlightenment from the Europeans: Critical Theories of Decolonization(in Vorbereitung). Im Jahr 2023 war sie die Gerda-Henkel-Visiting Professor an der Stanford University und Thomas-Mann-Fellow.
